Bad Bearings Stop Machines. Our Shields Keep Them Going.
The Problem: Dirt Gets In Your Bearings Did you know that 36% of all bearing failures happen because of bad lubrication?…

Low Carbon Steel Shield
A low carbon steel shield, also known as a mild steel guard, is a protective component widely used in bearing assemblies and machinery to block dust, debris, and other contaminants, effectively extending bearing service life.
Containing approximately 0.05% to 0.25% carbon, low carbon steel offers superior formability and ductility compared to high carbon steel. This makes it well-suited for precision stamping and shaping processes. FTM's carefully selected low carbon steel materials strike an excellent balance between mechanical strength and cost efficiency, delivering reliable protection for general-purpose applications.
While mild steel provides moderate wear resistance, it is advisable to apply protective surface treatments—such as zinc plating or oil coating—when used in humid or corrosive environments, ensuring long-term durability and corrosion resistance.

Stainless Steel Shield
A stainless steel shield serves as a protective barrier for internal components in machinery, electronic enclosures, and bearing assemblies, effectively preventing the intrusion of dust, moisture, and other contaminants. FTM’s custom stainless steel shields are engineered for exceptional corrosion resistance and mechanical durability, making them ideal for demanding environments where long-term performance is critical.
These shields are typically formed as thin plates or precision covers, with customizable dimensions ranging from 10mm to 250mm to suit a wide range of applications. Depending on performance and aesthetic requirements, surface treatment options such as zinc plating or black zinc plating are also available to enhance protection and appearance.
